Dr. Abbas E. Abbas, board certified in surgery, is a cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in non-cardiac thoracic surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center. |
He is also an assistant professor, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Medical Center. Dr. Abbas has been involved in research projects studying virus-based gene therapy in thoracic oncology as well as an investigation involving an artificial heart and left ventricular assist device.
He has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and Human Gene Therapy.
He has presented at professional meetings such as the 39th Annual Meeting of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Abbas' international experience includes study and work in Egypt, where he was assistant lecturer of surgery and resident at Ain-Shams University Hospitals, and the United Kingdom, where he attended secondary school.
He has been practicing medicine for nearly 20 years and comes to OSU Medical Center from the Mayo Clinic where he was a cardiothoracic surgery fellow.
