Cathy Sila, MD

Dr. Cathy Sila received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University of Medicine and completed her neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She joined the Cleveland Clinic professional staff following a Cerebrovascular Research Fellowship and became the Head of Vascular Neurology and Translational Research.

Dr. Sila is the director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center in the Neurological Institute at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and the George M. Humphrey, II chair and Professor of Neurology at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Her research focuses on the prevention of stroke. She is particularly known for her work on stroke related to cardiac disease, stenosis of the intracranial arteries and stroke occurring in young adults. She is a fellow of the Stroke Council of the American Stroke Association and is consistently on the “Top Doctors” list.

She continues to foster awareness and Heart-Brain interactions nationally as the Stroke Council Chair on the American Heart Association Committee on Scientific Sessions Program.
