Focus on Faculty: Section of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital

The Section of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio is devoted to the diagnosis and management of all acute and chronic respiratory disorders and diseases in children. Conditions that are treated include:

Airway obstruction
Apnea
Aspiration syndromes
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
Chronic or recurrent cough
Chronic or recurrent wheezing disorders
Complex asthma
Cystic Fibrosis
Exercise intolerance
Gastroesophageal reflux with respiratory consequences
Interstitial lung disease
Recurrent pneumonia
Sleep associated breathing disorder
Ventilator dependency
Vocal cord dysfunction

An interdisciplinary team comprised of a physician, clinical dietician, clinical nurse specialist, massage therapist, physical therapist, psychologist, recreational therapist, and respiratory therapist works collaboratively to improve the well-being of patients afflicted with pulmonary illness.

Staffed by faculty from the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University, the Section of Pulmonary Medicine is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Cystic Fibrosis Accredited Care Center and by the American Lung Association as an Asthma Clinical Research Center .
