Prostate Cancer

Is it Normal to Use Flomax for 2-3 Years After Radiation Therapy?

10/20/1999

Question:

Is it normal to still be on Flomax 2-3 years after seed-implantation and radiation therapy? Thank you in advance.

Answer:

Flomax is commonly used to treat patients with urinary symptoms due to prostatic enlargement. This can occur independent of the presence of prostate cancer which I assume is the reason the patient received radiation therapy. Some patients require long term use of Flomax to manage urinary symptoms which I assume are present in this patient. I hope this information is helpful to you.
