Spirolina03/01/2000 |
I have been hearing a lot about spirolina , or blue-green algae as a food supplement . What do you think of it ? I have Parkinsons and am considering talking it .
The difficulty with answering your question and similar questions regarding nutritional supplements is that they are not investigated in a systematic way. There are no reports in the literature where spirolina has been investigated in a double-blind randomized protocol so assessing its efficacy is difficult. As far as safety, it is good to remember that "natural" does not always mean safe and there is potential for side effects or drug interactions with all such medications.
