use a toothbrush on edentulous elderly?
For edentulous patients, the use of a sponge stick fulfills the job of cleaning and massaging the gums. The tongue still will need to be brushed using a soft toothbrush with a tooth paste. The direction of cleaning the tongue is from the back of the tongue and moving forward.
