LUPUS

06/12/2000

Question:

IF LUPUS IS HEREDAITARY DOES THAT MEAN MY DAUGHTER CAN HAVE IT ?

Answer:

Relatives of patients with lupus have a higher RISK of developing the disease themselves than the population at large. However since lupus is a rare disease and since other factors besides genes are necessary to develop the disease it is actually not common to have more than one family member with the disease.
