Seizure and Alzheimer`s07/07/2000 |
My mom is 76 and has had a seizure. She has had times when her husband could not rouse her at night while she slept. Could this be alzheimer`s?
Seizures are an abnormal electrical discharge from the brain. They can occur from many causes and she should be evaluated promptly by a neurologist as to their cause and treatment. Seizures may occur in AD, but usually late in the disease course; it would be most unusual for a seizure to be the first manifestation of Alzheimer`s disease. We hope this information helps. If we can be of any other assistance, please don`t hesitate to contact us again.
