Reynaulds disease now finger infected. help!

09/10/2000

Question:

it is the first breakout of raynaulds. my finger went white to purple and red,2weeks later, my middle finger on my left hand is infected, dark maroonish color on tip under nail. I put tea tree oil on it 4x a day and now it is turning white on the end of it. I am taking cephalexin 500mg 2x a day and only have 5 pills left and the top of my finger is hard and numb. what do I do? should I be soaking in something to draw out the infection? thanks for your help

Answer:

Raynauds and Raynauds-like symptoms can occur in certain rheumatolgical diseases, where blood vessels are involved. Usually it is just change in color of finger tips on cold exposure. But, if it starts `breaking out`, one should immediately speak to his/her rheumatologist. It may not be an infection.
