Parkinson`s Disease and Twins11/21/2000 |
Is it possible a human clone or identical twin of a person could have Parkinson`s disease even if the original does not have it? If so, why?
A study on WWII veterans with twin siblings might be of interest to you. One veteran had Parkinson`s. The risk in the identical or fraternal twins was compared and there was no real difference in the incidence of PD. This would indicate that environmental factors may be important in addition to the genetic factors.
