Lupus

High range for ANA

01/30/2001

Question:

What would cause my ANA to run in the 2000 range if all my other tests are starting to look better? My doctor is even baffled.

Answer:

The ANA titer or degree of abnormality does not correlate with disease activity. Even persons in remission can still have markedly abnormal ANAs.
