INCONTINENCE TEST

02/07/2001

Question:

DESCRIBE THE PROCEDURE KNOWN AS A UR0DYNAMIC TEST.

Answer:

It is a test of bladder funtion. A catheter is inserted in the bladder and measurements of volume and pressure are recorded as the bladder is filled with water. Voiding occurs and other measurements are obtained and the ability to empty the bladder completely is measured. These studies are helpful in determining the cause of incontinence and also what treatment may be most appropriate.
