Sleep Problems with Ritalin

Question:

Will my daughter have sleep problems if she takes Ritalin?

Answer:

Insomnia has been reported as a side effect with Ritalin. However, if your daughter has just begun her treatment and this side effect presents itself, report this to your physician and the dosage may be able to be adjusted. Typically, this medication is administered in the morning, at breakfast and at lunch to avoid sleep interruption if given later in the afternoon or evening.
