Parkinson`s Plus types02/27/2001 |
My dad was recently diagnosed with Parkinsons Plus Syndrome, probably Multiple System Atrophy. How many types of Parkinson`s Plus Syndromes are there and what are they?
An entire book can be written about the Parkinson`s Plus syndromes. Briefly, the most common are Multiple System Atrophy, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Cortico-basalganglionic degeneration, and Diffuse Lewy Body Disease. Unfortunately, all these variants respond poorly to medications and therapy is mainly of a supportive nature.
