Advanced Prostate Cancer Spreading Possibilities

03/09/2001

Question:

Once a person has been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and it has spread to the bones, what is the possibility of it spreading further to other organs and developing melanoma or other types of cancer? Are there any statistics that show the likely hood of spreading to other organs with a Stage IV cancer?

Answer:

Advanced prostate cancer can spread to bone but also lymph nodes and in more advanced cases to the lungs, liver, and other vital organs. There is no association with melanoma and other malignancies.
