Does hyperactivity run in families?
Yes. ADHD is more common in close relatives of the affected individual, such as a parent or sibling. There also appears to be a higher incidence of mood and anxiety disorders, learning disorders, substance-abuse, and antisocial personality disorders in individuals with ADHD or their close relatives. However, the exact prevalence of these additional disorders coexisting is not known.
