Is smoking Bad?04/30/2001 |
Is smoking bad for you? What are the bad effects of smoking? Are there short term effects? What are the long term effects?
Yes, there are many health risks associated with cigarette smoking. A few of these risks include cancer (lung, mouth, esophagus, and bladder cancers), cardiovascular disease (including heart problems, stroke, and changes in the arteries in the legs), and emphysema or breathing problems. The 1990 Surgeon General`s Report on the Health Benefits of Smoking Cessation identifies how the risks of smoking are decreased when a person quits smoking cigarettes. An additional page on this website provides information on health effects.
