Lupus

Skin rash on shins

07/30/2001

Question:

I noticed a pinkish rash on my both shins. The Doctor treated me for Erythema Nodosum,& gave me antibiotics. The rash subsided with the treatment. Again I noticed slight rash so I decided to take second opinion. This Doctor suspected Lupus Erythematosis & started me with anti malarial drug. The ANA result is 1.37 Please advice

Answer:

This would be an unusal rash for Lupus Erythematosus. Furthermore abnormal ANA results occur in many diseaes besides lupus. Additionally 31% of otherwise healthy individuals can have positive ANAs. I would suggest that you see a Dermatologist
