Head injuries as cause of PD04/04/2002 |
Is there any research suggesting that head injuries may vause or trigger PD? (I`m aware that Ali is said to have Parkinsonism due to head injuries in the ring.)
There is no good research establishing a cause and effect relationship between head injury and Parkinson`s disease. `Pugilistic parkinsonism` refers to parkinsonism occurring in boxers such as Ali. However, there is no evidence to suggest that Parkinson`s disease occurs more commonly in boxers than in the general population.
