Is Chelatin Therapy a Good Alternative to Chemotherapy?

08/16/2002

Question:

My sister has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and will have her ovary removed. Instead of chemotherapy she may have kelation or possibly chelation therapy. I think it may have something to do with cleaning the blood. I`m sorry that`s all I can give you to go by, but in cancer sites I can only find information on chemotherapy and radiation. Please help!

Answer:

Chelation therapy has not been proven to be very helpful for much of anything and is very expensive. I never recommend it. The best evidence that we have at this time states that her best chances are with chemotherapy. I also recommend multivitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium, Fish oil or Flaxseed oil, rest, exercise, relaxation therapy, and a spiritual connection for my patients with cancer...but NOT chelation.
