11/25/2002

Question:

A lot of people have flu-like symptoms the first couple weeks after their initial encounter with HIV. But are there some people that do not have these symptoms?

Answer:

In patients who have acute seroconversion, one can develop a prolonged flu-like illness. Only a few patients remember these symptoms (30-40%) and in some patients it may be so mild that they do not remember these symptoms at all.
