Candida Glabrata11/25/2002 |
Dont know if this is where I need to ask this question but... Looking for info on Candida Glabrata. Mother in law has had constant problems for over a year and is unable to get help anywhere she has gone so far. No meds have helped her either. She has been on many even those she was told were dangerous to her as she has been treated for breast cancer with chemo and radiation. She is miserable. Can you assist or send us in the right direction?
Candida glabrata, formerly known as Torulopsis glabrata, is one of the ten Candida species that are important human pathogens. Candida glabrata is relatively resistant to fluconazole, the most commonly used antifungal medication, but there are other medications available that can be used if fluconazole fails. Your mother-in-law should work with her oncologist and primary care physician to determine the cause of her symptoms and the best treatment available.
