HIV and AIDS
Can Inflamed Gums Transmit The HIV Virus?
I wanted to know if HIV virus is transmitted through an inflamated gum (which bleeds just when brushing and not at the moment of contact with the virus)? I am dying to know the answer.
HIV is transmitted by blood and by sexual contact. There is little chance that inflamed gums lead to HIV transmission. If the gums were bleeding and someone came in contact with that blood there is a slight risk, very slight, that contact with that blood would transmit infection. The risk however is not zero.
