Weight loss and extra skin with stretch marks
Hi, I was wondering about weight loss. I am lossing weight after having two kids and gaining alot of it. I used to have a pretty flat tummy but since I gained so much weight I was wondering if I can ever get that flat tummy back. I had gained 120 pounds and so far have lost 60 of it, so I am half way back to normal. Anyway, I also got alot of stretch marks while I was pregnant and was wondering, as well, if those might go away or atleast get better as I lose the weight. I have heard of people having to get extra skin removed after lossing alot of weight and I was wondering if that is something that I will have to do or can I get back to normal by exerciseing? I am working out with arobics exercise and abdominal exercises. Anyway, if someone can answer my question I would really appreciate it. Thank you
Congratulations on your weight loss so far. As you continue your conditioning program, keep in mind: Adopting an exercise program that allows you to perform aerobic activity (i.e., brisk walking, jogging, bicycling, etc.) for at least 20 minutes per session, for a minimum of three days per week (working up to five days per week) should be included in any weight loss program. Keep in mind that every exercise session should begin with 5-10 minutes of light activity to prepare the body for more vigorous movement. After your body is warmed up, do flexibility stretches for all the large muscle groups. Make sure you do not bounce! Each stretch should be held for 10-30 seconds and repeated 3-4 times per muscle group. Keep in mind that abdominal strengthening exercises will help to firm the stomach muscles, but one must be consistent in performing such exercises. Only aerobic exercises (as listed above) will help reduce unwanted body fat. Regarding your skin questions, I recommend presenting your questions to the experts listed under dermatology.
