Can Massage Therapy Relieve Migraine Pain and Tension?

05/14/2003

Question:

Will massage therapy help relieve the pain and tension of a migraine headache?

Answer:

Many patients find that massage therapy is very helpful for migraine headache prevention. Migraines are triggered by so many potential things. Often tense muscles can be a potent trigger. Chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation, as well as acupuncture, are also very helpful for the prevention of migraines. The key is to have your treatment regularly...usually every 2-4 weeks, depending on the treatment and the severity and frequency of the headaches.
