Blood in Semen a Symptom of Prostate Cancer?

05/09/2003

Question:

I seem to have blood in my semen. Could this be trouble with my prostrate?

Answer:

Blood in the semen typically is secondary to an infection of the prostate or structures associated with it. It is not caused by prostate cancer. I suggest you see a physician who can evaluate you and appropriately treat the problem.
