Urinary Tract Cancers

Blood in urine

05/15/2003

Question:

Female, 50 yrs., blood in urine per urinalysis with general check up, not visible by eye. Gynecologist records indicate same result past 4 years (done with Pap test). Can someone just have blood in their urine all the time without having kidney, bladder, urinary tract diseases?

Answer:

Blood in urine is not uncommon and oftentimes is not associated with any specific problem. I wopuld discuss this with your gynecologist, for an evaluation of your kidneys and bladder would ensure that there in not an underlying cause.
