when you have a stroke that keeps you from moving your arm how do you learn to use that arm again. isn`t the part of the brain that controlled your arm gone?
No. Although the part injured by the stroke does die, your brain can reorganize around the injured part. Studies, including ongoing ones here at the University of Cincinnati, suggest that this occurs through repeated practice with the arm affected by the stroke. This can occur months or even years post stroke.
