Options for Schools in Reducing Obesity07/28/2003 |
Are you aware of any educational programs/efforts that have been successfully used by schools to reduce childhood obesity?
I wish I could say YES! I am most familiar with programs in Ohio. Here are some places you can go for further information regarding programs in the schools:
- 1. Borden Center for Nutrition & Wellness. Call Children`s Hospital main line 614-722-2000 and ask for the Center.
- 2. Ohio Department of Education administers the federal program Team Nutrition. Call Child Nutrition Services @ 614-466-2945.
- 3. Cooking Light Magazine (http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking/)started a school program and advertises it in every edition.
