Child Abuse

Verbal Abuse

10/10/2003

Question:

What is verbal abuse?

Answer:

Abuse is defined in the Webster Medical Dictionary as "treating so as to injure or damage." Verbal abuse could therefore be defined as the use of words or language in such a manner to cause injury or damage to the individual being spoken to. It is a very hard type of abuse to define and it is even harder to demonstrate the degree of harm verbal abuse causes.
