Sugar levels in snacks

11/17/2003

Question:

How much sugar would be appropriate in a snack?

Answer:

There are no specific guidelines regarding sugar levels in snacks. I would encourage you to choose snacks that provide good nutrition, such as: peanut butter on fresh fruit/veggies, low-fat cheese on whole wheat crackers, baked chips and salsa. Try to limit those snack foods which are high in processed sugar, such as: cookies, candy, other baked goods.
