How likely would a varicocele affect a teenaged boy negatively? My son has one and doesn`t want to ask the dr. about it. It doesn`t hurt and even goes away for days at a time. He looked it up himself and thinks that`s what it is ,and says unless it hurts or something not to worry. What do know of these?
Varicoceles are often seen in young boys. If it disappears, then there is a slight chance that there is a hernia or possibly a hernia with a varicocele. An office evaluation is warranted. In general, in kids, varicoceles are corrected for pain, or if the testicle on the varicocele side is smaller than the other tesiticle.
