Ear, Nose, and Throat Disorders

Small, raised, red bumps on tongue

01/29/2004 04:42PM

Question:

I have a group of small, red, raised bumps towards the back of my tongue off to the side. The are off to the side of my papillae and they are painless. Do you think they are something to be concerned about?

Answer:

Without seeing them it is hard to say, but they could be taste buds. If you have any risk factors for cancer, such as smoking or drinking alcohol, it would be best to see an ENT to look and feel them. I hope this helps.
