Prostate Cancer |
Hormone Treatment for Prostate Cancer With Urinary Tube04/05/2004 |
Patient was treated for prostate cancer with radiation eight years ago. Now had urinary problems and after a scope was done, the patient was told that the last urinary tube to left kidney was blocked. Recommendation was to have a tube inserted into kidney (through kidney) to try to open blockage to the bladder and then leave a catheter (or stent?) in to be changed every 3 months. In addition hormone therapy was strongly recommended.
I feel hormone therapy is essential in this situation and it may obviate the need for tubes on the kidney, etc. Depending on the degree of blockage, a tube in the kidney may or may not be necessary for hormonal therapy to help resolve the issue. You should check with the urologist who is treating you.
