Botox treatment of bladder?06/12/2004 |
My Interstitial Cysitits causes me to get up 3-4times nightly. I`m allergic to sulpha, which is in Elmiron, the major I.C.drug. My urologist now suggests I see a specialist to consider Botox treatment of the bladder. What can you tell me about this procedure and the pros/cons? Tahnks
Initial results with Botox have been favorable. Retreatment is necessary for the effects are temporary. I don`t see any downside to Botox other than the cost for I doubt that it would be covered by insurance companies for its application in this way is relatively new.
