Dental and Oral Health (Children)

BRACES

08/04/2004

Question:

Would a pediatric dentist be qualified to apply braces for my child. Or do I need to see an orthodontist?

Answer:

Probably, but it depends on the complexity of your child's orthodontic needs and the pediatric dentist's training and experience. Many pediatric dentists provide a great deal of orthodontic care. Don't hesitate to ask your pediatric dentist about his/her experience in managing your child's type of orthodontic problem. He/she should be able to show you "before" and "after" records of similar cases. Get a second opinion if you have any concerns.
