Vascular Surgery

Obvious veins

10/06/2004

Question:

My daughter (23) has noticed that all of her veins are extremely obvious and visible--to the point of embarassment. Is there cause for worry? What causes this?

Answer:

While veins can look worrisome on the legs, they are truly harmless. These may be varicose veins. Evaluation of these by your daughter's primary care doctor might help put both of your minds at ease.
