Is Drinking Grapefruit Juice the Same as Eating a Grapefruit?

10/28/2004

Question:

Is drinking a cup of grapefruit juice almost as good as eating a grapefruit, since its much easier to have the juice?

Answer:

Yes, drinking any juice is almost as good as eating the fruit. You are getting the same vitamins and minerals. The only problem is that you are not getting the fiber. Fiber is very important in cancer prevention and diseases such as diabetes. Since fruit is high in natural sugar, the fiber in fruits helps to decrease the increase in blood sugar that occurs when drinking juice.
