RE: underbite

04/14/2005

Question:

My 21 month old son seems to have an underbite. Is there any reason to see a dentist at this point for the problem.

Answer:

While it's too early to consider treatment for your son at 21 months of age, it's not too early for a comprehensive exam by a pediatric dentist. Your child's problem would be diagnosed and other problems ruled out. A plan and timetable of treatment could be prepared, and you would have time to seek other opinions, if desired, prior to beginning treatment.
