Can Herpes Simplex Two Cause A Foul Taste In Your Mouth?

05/06/2005

Question:

I'm 50 years old and male. Recently I was confirmed positive for herpes 2. Can this cause a foul taste in my mouth in the mornings and through the day sometimes? I've also started taking herbal pills for viral infection of olive leaf extract and red marine algae. (1 pill each everyday)

Answer:

Herpes simplex 2 is nearly exclusively found in the genital tract and not in the mouth. Thus, the cause of your foul taste is unlikely to be caused herpes simplex type 2.
