Transmission of HIV Through Semen on the Floor

02/13/2006

Question:

I recently particpated in mutual masturbation with another male. We did not kiss, touch each other`s gentials, or participate in oral or anal sex. The floor was not very clean and when I was getting ready to go, I dropped my coat and when I picked it up there was wet spots on it (I don`t know if it was semen or not). I threw the coat away and washed my hands. I did not have any open cuts on my hands or arms.

I was just wondering if there is any need to worry about possible infection during this time. I am mostly just worried about touching my coat in case there was semen on it. Thank you.

Answer:

Your risk of acquiring infection in this manner is negligible.
