Osteopenia and Hip Pain

when i was 16 i broke my foot by stepping off of a 2-inch porch, i didn`t fall, again at 24 by stepping on a hickory nut again i didn`t fall. since june of 2005 i have broke my feet a total of 6 times and the doctor said i have osteopia and need a dexa scan. for the past 3 years i have had a pain in my hip that is so severe at times it is hard to walk or get up could this be associated with the osteopenia. i 34 years old if that helps you . thankyou

Osteoporosis and osteopenia do not cause pain until there is a fracture.  Hip pain without a fracture is generally caused by other conditions such as sciatica, arthritis and bursitis, to name a few.  Be sure to discuss your symptoms with your clinician and ask what the diagnosis might be.
