Need for stage 2 in Begg technique01/31/2006 |
what is the need for stage 2 in begg technique? why cant we close space in the first stage itself . why there is a separate stage for space closure?
When you say close spaces I have to assume you are discussing an orthodontic problem requiring extraction of premolars. Assuming that, in severe crowding spaces there might not be a long interval for stage 2. However, in borderline crowding cases there might be more extraction spaces to close. These spaces are closed using intra-arch elastics and inter-arch elastics. During this phase the diameter of the arch wires should be increased in anticipation of Stage 3, which requires heavier arch wires to maintain arch form, and up-righting springs and torque auxiliaries that are used to properly position the roots of in all three planes of space. You might want to review Begg therapy textbooks. Look for the names of Peter C. Kesling or PR Begg as you review the material.
