Dermabrasion

02/16/2006

Question:

I read here that for Rhinophyma, "treatment is usually surgical - such as electrodessication or laser ablation." If the Rhinophyma is very mild, slight lumpiness on the top of the nose, would dermabrasion be effective at all, or does it not go deep enough? Thank you.

Answer:

Removal of layers of tissue, by whatever method, can reduce the lumpiness and irregularity of the tip of your nose.  The effectiveness of the treatment would depend upon the skill of your surgeon.

It might be beneficial to have your question referred to someone who performs significant surgical intervention in rhinophyma.
