Loose teeth03/06/2006 |
Is it possible for my teeth to be permanently loose if my Ortho treatment goes too fast? I`ve heard people say that the treatment should go slow to prevent teeth from being loose or fallig out... pls clarify. Also, how long does it take for the teeth to harden once the treatment is done? Thanks
Unless you have serious periodontal conditions, you need not worry about teeth being loosened beyond what occurs during treatment. As soon as the braces are removed, the bone around the teeth increases in bone density, so any "loosening" soon dissipates. This does not mean that you don't need to wear retainers after active treatment. Your orthodontist will prescribe the type of retainers you need and the amount of time they need to be worn.
