Osteoporosis

Pain and Seeking Medical Help

04/04/2006

Question:

My mother suffers from osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia. She is 58,and was diagnosed about 10 years ago. Her pain seems to get worse with time, and has become all over. That is basically my question, she says her pain feels deep inside her bones, all over her body, and becoming much more frequent. So I wanted to know is this normal for the problems she has, or should she be tested for an additional problem? It feels so deep, and covers so much of her body that she fears something more is happening! Thank you so very much for your time!

Answer:

You may want to check a vitamin D level.  If that is normal, perhaps she could consult a pain specialist or visit a pain clinic.
