what causes severe dry scalp and what are the most effective treatments
Most of the time the term dry scalp means scaly scalp and that is usually associated with a number of disorders such as psoriasis, severe seborrheic dermatitis, and tinea capitis (fungal infection of the scalp) which are the most common possibilities. Treatment varies with the diagnosis, which may require a small biopsy of tissue. You should see your board certified dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis and discussion of treatment.
