Periventricular white matter04/11/2006 |
My niece`s eyesight was going bad. Her eye specialist told her that she has microvascular ischemic changes in periventricular white matter and there was nothing they could do to help. She is concerned, because now she is afraid that she will develop early alzhiemers or have a stroke, because she is only 39 years old. Is there any treatment she can try? Thanks,
Please review previously answered questions, as I have answered several about periventricular white matter changes on imaging studies, and their implications.
It is imperative that your niece continue to work with her doctor to carefully monitor her general health, and to modify any risk factors for heart attack and stroke. In this way, she would definitely lower her long-term risk for a heart attack or stroke.
