Breast Feeding

Gassy baby

10/04/2006

Question:

I have an eight week old daughter and have been battling colic for several weeks. we have switched her formula a couple times, given her mylicon drops, gripe water and nothing works! right now she is on Similac Alimentium and we give her the mylicon drops but she is still extremely fussy.

She cries non stop and will tense her little body up and her stomach will make a lot of gurgling noises. sometimes her stomach pain is so bad she will get waken up by it. several times during the day and night she can`t go into deep sleep because she is awakened with her gas pains...HELP

Answer:

If you are breastfeeding, try avoiding dairy products.

If not, try a soy formula.

If you have already tried that, consider acid reflux disease.

She may need to be on an acid reducing medication.
