Itchy rash on extremities
My daughter is 13 and got an itchy rash on her arms and legs on Thursday afternoon. It is now Sunday and more have appeared on her arms and legs. They are very red with white in the middle.
The description of the eruption on your 13 year old daughter's extremities suggests contact dermatitis such as poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac. This time of year the leaves are lush. If she has been in the yard and flower beds, or camping, this might be a real possibility.
She might also have hypersensitivity to bites caused by harvester mites (wood bugs), fleas in the grass or other biting insects. Since the area is oppressive you might wish to see your family physician or board certified dermatologist for a very accurate diagnosis. Many of these processes resolve slowly without intervention, and your daughter might be very uncomfortable for several weeks.
